Music Video Questionnaire Analysis

1) For this question I asked the question ‘what is your gender?’ I felt this was a necessary question to ask as I felt that the gender may affect the outcome of other questions for example the genre of music.  My results from this question are that there was an equal amount of females and males.  Therefore I will not make my music video to suit a certain gender I shall make it so that it will appeal to both. 

   2) I asked an age related question as I felt this would affect the rest of the questions, therefore I felt it would be a good question to put forward and ask the audience. From my results I can see the most popular age group was 15-20. Therefore I shall relate my music video to this age group. 

   3) My third question regarded asking what their favourite genre of music is. From my results I can see that pop is the most popular. Therefore I shall pick a pop genre song for my music video as this will be most appealing to my target audience.  

   4) This question involved asking what genre of music video they most watch. I felt this was an important question to ask as it may differ from their favourite genre of music. My results showed that it was pop. Therefore I will be making a pop styled music video.

   
   5) Question 5 did not require a chart to show the data as it was a written answer. The question asked ‘what is your favourite music video and why?’ A lot of people gave similar answers for this question regarding the genre of music. The most common one was pop and there reasons for it being their favourite music video were also similar. The majority of people gave answers such as; The way the artist looks, the story being told, the performance of the artist, featuring artists and finally because of the song. I felt this was a good question to ask as it would allow me to find out what my target audience like in a music video which will allow mine to be successful.

   6) This question regarded asking whether they would prefer narrative, conceptual or a performance based music video. The most popular choice was a narrative based music video. Therefore I can see that my music video will be narrative based, telling a story.

   7) I asked a question about what they look for in a music video. Most people said that they mostly look for the visuals. Therefore I can see that this is an important element to include in my music video. People also said that they look for the story in the music video; this also tells me that this is an important part to include in the music video I am going to create.

  8) This question also regarded asking my target audience about music videos. This question asked what they thought the most important part of the music video is. The most popular choice was the visuals, followed by the narrative music and editing. I think these are all important parts of a music video therefore I shall be including these elements in my music video. I felt that this was an important question to ask my target audience as it would allow me to see what they look for in a music video so when it comes to making mine I can ensure I include all of these elements so it will   appeal to my target audience.

    9) I asked the question ‘where do you watch your music videos?’ The most popular choice was YouTube shortly followed by music channels. YouTube Was the most popular choice as it’s easy to get accesses, is free and can be watch on multiple device’s for example phones and laptops. Music channels was the second popular choice as it's also easy to access and free to view.

10) My final question regarded asking my target audience what influences them most to purchase their music. The majority of people said advertisement on TV, shortly followed by music videos and then other people. I felt this was both an important and interesting question to ask as it has allowed my to see how people mostly accesses their music and the impact of music videos, I can see that music videos was a popular choice for my target audience to purchase their music, therefore I can see my music video will be relevant and important to  music downloading and purchasing.
